Activity 3.2.1 – Natural Resources Review
The concept map displays an overview of natural resources and energy sources that are utilized throughout the world for electricity and a number of other purposes. According to the video Exploring Natural Resources, energy sources allow humans to utilize electricity in order to complete many tasks. “Energy is vital to almost everything we do. Energy resources have enabled us to accomplish great things including building cities, creating sophisticated electronic devices, and traveling to the moon.” (Jerome, B. A. 2017) The concept map describes commercial energy, which is all energy used in order to replace sun energy.
There are a number of different energy sources that are either renewable or nonrenewable, all of which originate from different places. Fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gasses all exist as resources that will not regenerate after being depleted, which prevents them from being used infinitely. Most energy sources come with their own drawbacks and benefits that either prevent or encourage people to use them as a large resource.
